The NBA Draft is Thursday night, and Oscar Tshiebwe is getting a few more workouts in hopes of securing his home in the pros. According to Adam Zagoria, Oscar will work out for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics this week. Cleveland has the No. 49 pick in the draft, while the Celtics hold the No. 35 selection. This is Oscar’s second workout with Boston, the first taking place on April 28.

Oscar isn’t listed in most of the major mock drafts but is ranked the No. 60 best available player by ESPN and No. 72 by The Athletic. This morning, Seth Davis shared anonymous scouts’ thoughts on the top draft prospects over at The Athletic. One sees a fruitful career for Oscar in the G League.

“He has to improve his shooting but he knows how to go get the ball. He did a workout in Chicago where he shot really well from 15 to 17 feet, and he even made some 3s. More of an offensive rebounder than a defensive rebounder. He’ll struggle to guard stretch fours and fives. He doesn’t have a skill set that’s elite. I don’t know how teams will use him on offense. His hands are just OK, but he’s got a motor and he’s tough and he can rebound the heck out of the ball. I think he would destroy the G League.”

Oscar averaged 16.5 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals in his second year in Lexington and fourth overall at the collegiate level. Oscar’s first year at Kentucky was one of the most dominant in recent memory both at the school and in the sport overall. He averaged 17.4 points, 15.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks per contest before sweeping player of the year honors.

According to Zagoria, by draft night, Oscar will have completed about 16 workouts. Here are the ones we know of. Portland was the most recent, taking place last Thursday.

  • Boston Celtics (No. 35) – Twice
  • Houston Rockets (Nos. 4, 20)
  • Milwaukee Bucks (No. 58)
  • Sacramento Kings (Nos. 24, 38, 54)
  • New Orleans Pelicans (No. 14)
  • Atlanta Hawks (Nos. 15, 46)
  • Los Angeles Lakers (Nos. 17, 47)
  • Washington Wizards (Nos. 8, 42, 57)
  • Brooklyn Nets (Nos. 21, 22, 51)
  • Indiana Pacers (Nos. 7, 26, 29, 32, 55)
  • Portland Trail Blazers (Nos. 3, 23, 43)
  • Cleveland Cavaliers (No. 49)

Not too long until we know for sure. Best of luck to Oscar and Kentucky’s other draft hopefuls Cason WallaceJacob Toppin, and Chris Livingston. We’ll be watching Thursday night at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN.
