Giannis Antentokoumpo set a new Milwaukee Bucks scoring record in the Association and then went berzerk over a dispute involving a former Kentucky Wildcat as soon as the game ended Wednesday night. The Greek Freak had to be held back from entering the Indiana Pacers locker room immediately after his 64-point performance, a new franchise record for the Bucks.

Antentokoumpo was upset because an Indiana Pacers assistant coach ran off with the game ball from Antentokoumpo’s monumental night. The broadcast caught the seven-time All-Star leaving the floor to chase after the Pacers to retrieve his keepsake ball.

Now this is where the story gets interesting to you, Big Blue Nation.

The Pacers swiftly took Antentokoumpo’s game ball for Pacers rookie Oscar Tshiebwe, who scored his first career point on a free throw with under three minutes to go in the game. Tshiebwe’s free throw was the former Kentucky Wildcat‘s only point in the Pacers’ loss in Milwaukee.

In a video posted to X, Tshiebwe can be seen in the middle of the dispute outside the locker room entrance as his teammates yell “keep that ball.”

Eventually, Antentokoumpo was given the game ball from the Pacers, although, he believes it to be a different ball than the one he put through the hoop 44 times during his 64-point game. He even offered the ball to his teammate, Damian Lillard, who moved into fifth on the NBA’s all-time three-point shooting list in the same game.

Antentokoumpo said in his postgame comments, “I don’t think it’s fair for anybody. Look, I understand when you score your first point in the NBA, to want to have the ball or whatever the case may be.”

Giannis’ promise to Michael Redd

Kentucky Sports Radio will always side with Oscar Tshiebwe. However, we will note the significance of the night in Milwaukee as Antentokoumpo’s high-scoring game fulfilled a long promise to Michael Redd, the Bucks’ previous record-holder.

Still, we side with Oscar today and always.
