Oregon director of recruiting Pat Biondo will be Kentucky football general manager
The Will Stein era is off and running in the Bluegrass. An offensive coordinator hire is brewing. So is the first the support staff hire. This is one the Big Blue Nation has been clamoring for.
Kentucky football is building a front office. Oregon director of recruiting Pat Biondo will be Stein’s first general manager.
Before arriving at Oregon to work in Dan Lanning‘s deep recruiting department, Pat Biondo spent three seasons (2019-21) at Texas A&M. During his time working for Jimbo Fisher, the recruiting staffer was a senior assistant of recruiting an operations. Biondo appeared on On3’s rising star personnel and recruiting staffers list ahead of the 2022 season. The personnel employee spent four seasons in Eugene and worked the last three years with Stein. Before working in football, Biondo spent nine years on the staff of West Virginia’s women’s basketball team serving as a video coordinator, special assistant to the head coach, and director of basketball operations.
There has been a lot of noise in the fan base asking the Kentucky football program to join the growing list of programs creating NFL-style front office structure with a clear leader. After multiple seasons where Eddie Gran was the de facto general manager, UK appears to be beefing up its scouting department. Pat Biondo appears to be the face of the recruiting and scouting department and probably won’t be the last player personnel hire.
