[caption id="attachment_200228" align="alignnone" width="362"]UK Athletics UK Athletics[/caption] It ain't hard to tell Kentucky cornerback Chris Westry is an elite athlete.  All you have to do is stand next to him. If his length doesn't impress you, the weight he's thrown on his shoulders will.  "The look test" or "the eye test" is a term often thrown around when discussing football.  He passes that test with flying colors.  Jared Lorenzen and Matt Jones see football very differently, but they both had the same jaw-dropping reaction when they saw him on the football field for the first time. Others outside of the state are beginning to see what we're seeing.  Named to the SEC's All-Freshman team last year, he's prepared to take another giant step forward this fall.  He told me after the spring game: “You already had the getting your feet wet aspect of it.  It’s already over.  So you have to keep the car in drive and go faster,” he said.  “They’re not expecting me to make freshman mistakes any more.  It’s time to grow up and be able to do great things." The next step forward is becoming one of the best lock-down cornerbacks in the SEC.  It's a bold statement, but it's not crazy.  In fact, Saturday Down South thinks he's one of the Top Ten cornerbacks in the SEC, ranking Westry at #7.
He made an impact as a freshman, but Kentucky is pressing the 6-foot-4 Westry to be even better. His length gives him something the other top SEC corners don’t have – an NBA wing span to take on big receivers.
Not only is he a fantastic football player, he's got moves that are smoother than blue suede shoes.
