Jack PIlgrimby:Jack Pilgrim07/23/22

If you’re looking for a two-way guard with toughness and athleticism in the rising junior class, five-star PG Elliot Cadeau is your guy. Standing 6-foot-1, the Oradell, NJ native has emerged as a clear top-10 prospect in 2024, and he’s got the offer sheet to prove it.

This week at Peach Jam alone, he picked up a new offer from North Carolina, and then additional scholarships from Louisville and Georgetown. He’s also picking up interest from a long list of high-profile schools, including Kentucky.

The five-star guard sat down with KSR and On3 this week at Peach Jam to discuss the latest in his recruitment, his dream school, professional options, a potential reclassification and what he’s looking for in a college, among other topics.

Check out the complete conversation below:

How do you think you’ve performed this week at Peach Jam?

I think these past few games I’ve been playing well. I definitely think that I could play better, make more shots, have less turnovers, but there’s always going to be mistakes in the game.

How would you describe your game?

I’m a pass-first point guard. I’d say I’m very quick off the dribble off my first step. And I just make the right plays.

Do you have any visits set up right now?

I have Texas Tech set up at the end of September. That’s the only visit I have set up right now. I was recently offered by UNC, and I’d definitely like to get down there too.

What do you like about the North Carolina program?

They’re a winning program and I like to be on teams that win. Even though fell a little short here at Peach Jam, the rest of the sessions, my team has been winning everything. And I just like being a part of a winning program.

What do you like about Texas Tech?

I was just always a fan of them. They were my dream school, so when I finally got offered, I thought why not just take my first visit with them?

Could your visit to Lubbock lead to a commitment? Are they your current favorite?

Not really. When I say they were my dream school, I mean like they were, when I was a little kid. I used to watch them. Right now, it’s not like a favorite to commit. I have no clue where I’m committing.

Why was Texas Tech your dream school?

The year I finally started watching college basketball was the year they went to the Final Four. I really liked the way they played defensively.

What other schools do you hear from?

Tennessee, Baylor, I hear a lot from Syracuse, I talk to Kentucky a lot.

How are things going with Baylor?

I know a kid that committed there, Miro Little. He’s from Finland and I know him through my Swedish national team experience. So Miro told them about me and they came to my games, but they haven’t offered yet.

What do you know about the Kentucky basketball program?

I like how they produce pros. A lot of people that go out there become pros, it’s proven that they produce pros and that’s what I want to be. So that definitely might be an option for me.

Are there any other visits you’d like to take?

I like Tennessee too, I might want to go out there. I like their coach and I like their play style. A friend of mine is Zakai Zeigler, and it’s really working out well for him there.

Have you thought about a reclassification to 2023?

I’m not making a decision yet on if I’m going to reclassify. I don’t know yet, it’s still open.

Is the pro route a possibility for you? Have you talked to Overtime Elite or the G-League?

Overtime Elite, definitely, yeah. But I chose Link Academy instead of that route. G-League, I haven’t been in contact with them, but I’d like to hear from them. Possibly (I’d explore that route).

What are you looking for in a college?

Just development. I want to go to a team that wins a lot and play for a coach that really showcases my talents and can make me stand out to NBA scouts.

Are there any players you’d like to team up with in college?

No. I wanted to team up with Tahaad (Pettiford) at Link, but he chose to stay home at a school. Hopefully our senior year we can team up.

Would you want to team up with Pettiford in college?

I mean, if we’re both the same height we are right now, I don’t think that would be smart. But his parents are pretty tall, so if he grows to 6-5 or something, I think we could be a good duo in college.
