Rajon Rondo and his son Pierre recreated famous celebration photo from Lakers' 2020 NBA Finals win
Rajon Rondo‘s playing days are behind him. Now he’s playing the role of dad to one of the more interesting up-and-coming basketball prospects in the entire Bluegrass State.
You might remember Rondo’s son, Pierre Rondo, from that famous photo during the Los Angeles Lakers’ NBA Finals celebration back in 2020. In what was one of the final seasons of Rajon’s pro career, he played a key role alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis in helping the Lakers win the title over the Miami Heat in the bubble.
During the postgame on-court celebration, Rajon was seen sitting on the floor wearing a championship hat with confetti falling in the background. Spotted right next to Rajon was a young Pierre, who completed the now-famous photo by sipping on a bottle of Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider. Fast forward five years, and Pierre was able to recreate the photo, but this time with the roles reversed.

Earlier this week, Pierre helped lead Rondo Elite to a title in the Middle School Championship Series (MSCS). With help from his dad, who coaches Rondo Elite, the two were able to recreate that picture from 2020 with Pierre the one sitting and Rajon the one sipping. Pierre led his team with 18 point en route to a tight 54-53 win over the NY Lightning.

Pierre, who is a class of 2030 prospect, is far away from being seriously recruited by colleges, but he’ll be a name to monitor moving forward. A rising eighth grader, he’ll once again suit up for North Oldham High School in Goshen, KY, for the 2025-26 season, where he’s expected to play at the varsity level.
