Ranking the Best Three-Point Shooters Under Calipari

When one thinks of the Calipari era, what first comes to mind is the plethora of athletes and immense talent that UK has amassed. An area that hasn’t been up to snuff, though, when compared to the other aspects of the game is three-point shooting. But, this doesn’t mean that UK hasn’t had their fair share of long-range snipers, because they have. Here are the best five:

5. Darius Miller (Career Stats: 175/463, 37.8%, Best Season: 58/131, 44.3%): As frustrating as Miller’s career was at times, he was generally always able to knock down the open three pointer. He wasn’t the best at creating his own shot, but he was an incredibly smart bomber, as he seemingly always made the correct decision of when to shoot it or when to swing it on the perimeter or when to pump fake and take the mid-range j.

4. Aaron Harrison (Career Stats: 62/174, 35.7%, Best Season: Same): Ok, so we all know why Harrison made this list. His season percentage may not blow you out of the water, but let’s make things clear: he is on this list for his postseason heroics. I don’t need to recap you on that, do I? Ok, good.

3. Kyle Wiltjer (Career Stats: 90/231, 39%, Best Season: 35/81, 43.2%): Wiltjer might not be the greatest at creating his own shot, but when he was open it was probably going in (especially his freshman year). Kyle became a bit streaky his sophomore year, but his ability to stretch the defense was something that this year’s team could have used throughout the year.

2. Brandon Knight (Career Stats: 87/231, 37.7%, Best Season: Same): As a point guard, most of Knight’s three-point shooting came from his own doing. Knight was fantastic at creating his own shot and knocked down big three-pointers all season long. Knight’s percentages might not be as high as Wiltjer or Miller, but he could knock down tougher shots than either of them.

1. Doron Lamb (Career Stats: 144/303, 47.5%, Best Season: 68/140, 48.6%): Make no doubt about it, Lamb is one of the best three-point shooters in Kentucky basketball, and is the best in terms of percentages. Lamb was automatic from beyond the arc during his two seasons at UK, and none of his three’s were as big as the three he hit in the national championship game against Kansas.
