Rapid Reaction: KSR takes on Kentucky Basketball Media Day

What a breath of fresh air Kentucky basketball is right now to distract us from the nonsense of football, the start of 2025-26 officially here with UK Media Day tipping things off ahead of Pro Day and Big Blue Madness later in the week. Year two of the Mark Pope era is here, and there is a ton to be excited about with KSR breaking it all down outside Historic Memorial Coliseum.
What were the major talking points from Pope’s state of the program address in his 40 minutes at the podium? Did he actually fight Pat Kelsey outside a recruit’s apartment? How are the Wildcats looking after summer practice and a few weeks into the fall? How about updates on Jayden Quaintance’s return from injury and the start of Andrija Jelavic’s career in blue and white?
It only got busier with the players, learning about Jelavic’s transition to life in Lexington as a Wildcat — and the advice he learned from Zvonimir Ivisic about not eating at Papa John’s. Plus, Quaintance playing chess, intro plans at Big Blue Madness, walk-ons learning about Coach Cal leaving and Pope coming, team chemistry and much, much more.
