Games went mostly as expected last night with several favorites cruising, but a few road teams won including Newport Central Catholic, Dunbar, and St. Xavier.

Murray 28 Owensboro Catholic 7

After knocking off Mayfield last week for the first time in 27 years, Murray kept the momentum going last night.  Charvelle McCallister caught a score and ran for another and the Tigers are making history and quickly becoming the talk of the state this season.

West Carter 43 Walton-Verona 6

Senior running back Leetavious Cline had 180 yards and 4 TDs to set the school career rushing record last night.  While Murray is the upstart, feel-good story out of the west, West Carter is the same out of the east.

#25 CAL 28 Glasgow 20 

Connor Clayton Masters threw a pair of touchdown passes to Easton Messer, and Brandt Babin ran for 2 more to lead CAL to victory.

Hopkinsville 14 John Hardin 10

Reece Jesse caught 6 passes for 121 yards, including a 40-yard TD pass from Trey Jefferson to lead the Tiger’s to victory.

#5 Frederick Douglass 21 Southwestern 20

Samuel Cornett threw 2 TD passes to help Frederick Douglass race out to a 21-6 lead.  They stopped Southwestern on a late 2-point attempt in what looked like a muddy mess.

The Tigers advanced despite losing QB Giles Pooler in the first quarter.  He didn’t play the rest of the game due to concussion protocol.  Mekhi Smith ran for 2 TDs in the victory.  UK RB commit La’Vell Wright did not play for North Hardin due an injury sustained earlier in the playoffs.  They couldn’t get anything going in the rushing attack without him.
