Rhyne Howard out for remainder of July with left knee injury

After recently being named a WNBA All-Star for the third time in her career, former Kentucky Wildcat Rhyne Howard will be out of action for a few weeks.
On Friday, Howard tweaked her left knee against the Indiana Fever, but she soon came back in the game, finishing with 14 points on 4-8 shooting from three-point range, three rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 26 minutes of play. However, she probably shouldn’t have gone back out there.
It was reported by ESPN’s Alexa Philippou on Monday that the former two-time SEC Player of the Year will be sidelined for the remainder of the month of July due to a left knee injury. Philippou noted that Howard is expected to make a full recovery as well.
Unfortunately, she’ll miss the WNBA All-Star Game on July 19th.
This season, Howard is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. On top of that, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to tally 300 career three-pointers, and Howard tied the single-game WNBA record by hitting nine three-pointers in a 36-point performance last month against the Chicago Sky. Howard also become the fastest player in Atlanta Dream history to score 2,000 career points.

The injury bug has bitten her numerous times in her pro career, and this is just the latest bit of bad luck to come Howard’s way. Get well soon, Rhy.
