Rose out until March, Bulls bring in Hinrich

One of the reasons the Chicago Bulls drafted Marquis Teague was Derrick Rose's knee injury, which they believed at the time would sideline him until January. Now, the Chicago Tribune reports that doctors expect Rose to be "out until likely March," which has led the Bulls to bring back point guard Kirk Hinrich to steady the ship and not completely throw Marquis Teague into the fire on day one. Hinrich was drafted by the Bulls nine years ago and played seven years in Chicago before being traded to Washington and later Atlanta. It's mixed news for Marquis Teague, who will lose playing time, but will have more time to acclimate himself to the Bulls' offense and the league in general. Teague's performance in the NBA Summer Leagues has been lackluster, but if we learned anything from his time at Kentucky, it's that he's a fast learner. Ultimately, it's the best decision for both sides: the Bulls will have an experienced point guard to lead the team without Rose, and Teague will have time to learn the system. It sounds like he's already got the right attitude. When asked about the upcoming season after his game against Doron Lamb and the Bucks yesterday, Teague said: "I just want to come in and bring energy, try to defend, do whatever the coaches ask me to. On my team, the big thing is just defense. Pressure the ball and make it as tough on the offense as possible." At least he won't have to do it all on his own on day one.
