Zack Geogheganby: Zack Geoghegan12/05/23ZGeogheganKSR

The college football transfer portal is officially open and chaos quickly ensued across the country. Several Kentucky players have already entered their names into the portal as of Monday afternoon, but there have also been plenty of portal options from other schools linked to the Wildcats.

One of those transfer options even announced a scholarship offer from Kentucky last week. Additionally, a handful of high school prospects have also claimed offers from UK in recent days, which is actually what we’re here to break down.

So who has the Kentucky coaching staff been reaching out to as of late? Find out below after a quick shoutout to our sponsor.

Transfer offer

Ja’Mori Maclin (WR) 5-11, 185 | North Texas
4-star: 90.00 rating

  • Ja’Mori Maclin is a name to keep a close eye on. The younger cousin of Missouri great, Jeremy Maclin, Ja’Mori announced an offer from Kentucky last Thursday, one day after entering his name into the transfer portal. Maclin has earned over a dozen offers since announcing his transfer from North Texas, including ones from LSU, Colorado, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. He’s coming off a 2023 season that saw him catch 57 passes for 1,004 yards (third in AAC) and 11 touchdowns (2nd in AAC) for North Texas. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Class of 2025/26 offers

Alex Tatsch (’25 LB) 6-2, 210 | Greater Latrobe (Latrobe, PA)
4-star: No. 322 overall, No. 36 LB

  • Alex Tatsch announced an offer from Kentucky last Thursday, his 16th from a Divison I program. Other offers on his list include ones from Southern California, South Carolina, Stanford, Wisconsin, Penn State, and more. Safeties coach Frank Buffano has served as the primary recruiter so far. Tatsch recently told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ that West Virginia, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin are in contact with him the most, adding that a visit to UK is likely for the spring.

Jake Cook (’25 IOL) 6-5, 305 | Westerville North (Westerville, OH

  • High school teammates with Kentucky’s four-star class of 2024 commit Brian Robinson, Jake Cook is up to 16 Division I scholarships after Vince Marrow and Zach Yenser gave him the good news on Friday. The inside lineman also holds Power 5 offers from Louisville (which he tells KSR is recruiting him the hardest right now) and Georgia Tech. Cook has visited UK multiple times already and intends to take an official visit to Lexington in 2024.

Keeyshawn Schneider (’26 ATH) 6-0, 175 | McCallie School (Chattanooga, TN)

  • Keeyshawn Schneider announced his Kentucky offer last Friday (shortly after his team won a Tennessee state championship), his third from a Power 5 school. Colorado and Vanderbilt have also extended scholarships. Vince Marrow reached out with the offer and Schneider is already planning on taking a visit to Lexington in the future. Only a high school sophomore, Schneider is listed as an ATH but primarily suits up as a wide receiver.

Preferred Walk-On

Brody Benke (ATH) 6-4, 230 | Highlands (Fort Thomas, KY)

  • Brody Benke isn’t a nationally-ranked recruit, but after leading Highlands to a 12-2 record as a senior, Kentucky reached out on Monday with a preferred walk-on opportunity for the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder. He did a little bit of everything for Highlands in 2023, throwing for 1,849 yards, 26 touchdowns, and five interceptions as a quarterback while also rushing for 1,176 yards on the ground and 23 more touchdowns off 159 carries. Benke even caught 14 balls for 208 yards and another six scores. He is being recruited as a tight end to UK and also holds scholarship offers from Findlay and Wofford, which he announced in November.
