Run 4 Roses paused in Louisville due to 'active aggressor'

A massive recruiting weekend for the Kentucky women’s basketball program has been paused due to an ‘active aggressor’ at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. That’s the host site of TFN’s Run 4 Roses Classic, the largest girls basketball exposure event in the world, held annually with 88 courts under one roof, bringing in thousands of college coaches to watch the top rising talent in high school.
“Due to an ongoing safety concern, all Run 4 Roses activities have been suspended for the remainder of today, Sunday, July 13,” the event announced on social media. “Out of an abundance of caution, all athletes and spectators have been cleared from the venue. We will be resuming Run 4 Roses Championship tomorrow, Monday, July 14. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
LMPD reports no victims at the Expo Center or nearby Kentucky Kingdom with no shots fired — though “a few people received minor injuries fleeing from the unknown incident.”
Kentucky Venues President & CEO David S. Beck released the following statement on the incident.
“Louisville Metro Police Department received a report of a possible active aggressor on-site at the Kentucky Exposition Center,” he said. “We are deeply thankful that initial reports indicate no one was harmed. The facility remains closed at this time. We are grateful for the swift and coordinated response from the Louisville Metro Police Department, our on-site security personnel, and public safety officials across the city. Their immediate action to search and secure the building ensured the safety of everyone on our campus.
“Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and partners. We appreciate your patience and support as we continue working with law enforcement. The investigation, led by LMPD, is ongoing.”
The Kentucky WBB staff had been in attendance watching targets, including five-stars Olivia Vukosa (2026), Sydney Savoury (2027) and Jordyn Palmer (2027) and four-stars Mimi Thiero (2026), Whitley Rogers (2026) and De’Andra Minor (2027), among others.

Fatal shooting in Lexington kills two
While the Louisville incident impacted Kentucky’s recruiting efforts, another hit even closer to home, unfortunately. A fatal shooting took place earlier in the day in Lexington, taking the lives of two with two others transported to a local hospital — one sustaining critical injuries.
That incident involved a Kentucky State Trooper after the officer pulled over a vehicle on Terminal Drive, the suspect shooting the officer before fleeing the scene.
“I’m heartbroken to share the shooting in Lexington at Richmond Road Baptist Church has taken the lives of two people. Other injuries — including a Kentucky State Police trooper from the initial stop — are being treated at a nearby hospital. The shooter has also been killed,” Governor Andy Beshear said of the incident. “Violence like this has no place in our commonwealth or country. Please join Britainy and me as we pray for the families of those lost, each one a child of God gone too soon. Thank you to the (Lexington Police) and (Kentucky State Police) for their brave efforts today.
“Kentucky, let’s stand strong together and support our Lexington neighbors during this difficult time.”
