Scott County vs. Great Crossing Preview

This is a game between a great rushing attack vs. a great defense.

Scott County rushed for over 2,000 yards in the regular season and will look to continue that trend against Great Crossing, who only allows 76 rushing yards per game.

The Warhawk defense, led by Kalib Perry, Oryend Fisher and Will Frazier, allow less than 14 points per game. This impressive showcase was apparent from the beginning of the season as Great Crossing held four of their first five opponents to just a single score.

These two rivals squared off in Week 7 where Scott County edged the Warhawks 14-6 as three Cardinal backs rushed for at least 50 yards and amassed 245 total on the night.

Great Crossing was forced to air it out after Scott County stifled their rushing attack to just 74 yards on the night. Quarterback Gabe Nichols went 10-23 with 142 yards, a touchdown and a pick—numbers that have to be better if they want to take down the Cardinals for the first time in program history.

Scott County is 3-0 all-time against the Warhawks and has outscored them 135-31 in the three meetings since Great Crossing’s inception in 2019.

While those numbers don’t bode well for Great Crossing, the Warhawks won their last two regular-season games while the Cardinals dropped their final two. Momentum is on Great Crossing’s side as they look to capture the first playoff victory in program history amid the greatest season in their short three-year lifespan.

How poetic would it be if that first postseason win came against their biggest rival: the Scott County Cardinals.
