Scott Satterfield isn’t so different than his predecessor.

Shortly after the Louisville head coach’s name was mentioned as a candidate for the vacancy at South Carolina, on Nov. 24 Satterfield Tweeted this message to reassure Cardinal fans.

“While I am flattered my name was associated with another job I have not pursued or sought any offers. I am the head coach at the University of Louisville. We are building a strong foundation and culture. I love our players and the dedication they have shown to me and my staff. It’s important that we continue the development of this program. We have an outstanding recruiting class coming in December and I’m excited for the future of our football team. L’s Up!!”

Friday night, only ten days later, Satterfield met with South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner to interview for the school’s head coaching position, according to The Big Spur, the Gamecocks’ 247 Sports site.

Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Billy Napier and Oklahoma assistant Shane Beamer are the top two candidates to replace Muschamp at South Carolina. Still, Tim Sullivan from the Courier-Journal is knocking on doors, literally, to see if Satterfield is on his way out at UofL.

Satterfield’s decision to speak with South Carolina officials the night before the Gamecocks play Kentucky is giving UofL fans deja vu all over again. Bobby Petrino told his players, “I’m not going anywhere,” the night before he left to become the Atlanta Falcons head coach. Even if he does not become the Gamecocks’ next head coach, Satterfield’s change of heart shows just how much he wants to remain in Da Ville.
