The writing’s been on the wall for a few weeks now, but this morning, the University of Florida introduced Scott Stricklin as their new athletic director. Stricklin, who served as the Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations at Kentucky under Mitch Barnhart from 2003-2008, has been the Athletic Director at Mississippi State since 2010, and will take over for longtime Florida AD Jeremy Foley, who is retiring after 25 years in the position. Stricklin was recently named the 2015-16 Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Congrats to Stricklin, whom we will fondly remember as the first person to credential KSR back in the day; however, I’m more concerned about the new job opening in Starkville. Deputy Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy is primed to make the move to the next level and the folks at Mississippi State would be fools not to consider him. This could be a huge opportunity for DeWayne, but selfishly, I hope Kentucky makes it worth his while to stay in Lexington.
