As was expected, the SEC office in Birmingham today levied two fines for both of their schools that took part in the age old tradition of rushing the field according to USA Today. The Cats were hit with a simple $25,000 fine for their first offense, while the Rebels were hit with a $50,000 one after they violated the rule for the third time in three seasons.

Also as expected, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive was not too impressed with the schools’ shenanigans:

“Saturday’s games were filled with excitement and celebration for a number of schools across the SEC last weekend, but significant risk of injury for student-athletes and fans alike can result from incidents such as these,” said SEC commissioner Mike Slive.  “Health and safety will always be a top priority at SEC athletic events.”

For both schools, I’d say it was well worth it for the price.
