SEC Athletic Directors to meet Monday to discuss fall sports


Will the SEC follow the Big Ten’s lead and move to a conference-only schedule this season? The powers that be are meeting early next week to talk it out.

According to Sports Illustrated, SEC athletic directors will meet at the league offices in Birmingham on Monday to discuss fall sports. The meeting has been planned for weeks and is not in response to the Big Ten’s announcement this afternoon, but SI reports that Commissioner Greg Sankey aims to gather “candid, in-person feedback from each athletic director about how they believe the conference should proceed with fall sports—especially football.”

Significant decisions, like if we will have fall sports and when, are not expected; previously, Commissioner Sankey has said he anticipates making that call in late July. That being said, a conference-only schedule will surely be on the agenda. For reference, here are all the games that could go away, via The Advocate:
