An SEC school is emerging as favorite to land Kentucky transfer Travis Perry
Travis Perry has been linked to several SEC schools since entering the transfer portal, with Ole Miss viewed as an early frontrunner, but the program in Nashville appears to be leading the charge.
On Friday morning, Robbie Weinstein of Vandy247 placed a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Perry committing to the Vanderbilt Commodores. A rising sophomore, Perry will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop. Vanderbilt was among the dozen schools that On3’s Joe Tipton reported as ones showing early interest after the Lyon County (KY) product surprisingly entered his name into the transfer portal on April 22.
Maryland was scheduled to host Perry for an official visit this past weekend. Now coached by former Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams, the Terrapins were among the first to reach out once Perry elected to transfer. Ole Miss and head coach Chris Beard have also been heavily involved and even recruited the 6-foot-1 guard out of high school. But Vandy has the momentum right now.

As a true freshman for the Wildcats in 2024-25, Perry averaged 2.7 points in 9.7 minutes per outing across 31 games played (including four starts) while shooting 32.1 percent from deep. He went for six points and two assists in 26 minutes as a fill-in starter for the Wildcats during a home win over Vanderbilt in February.
Perry signed with Kentucky rated as a consensus four-star, coming in at No. 81 overall and No. 13 among point guards in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. His original finalists included UK, Alabama, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, and Western Kentucky. If he ends up making the move to Vanderbilt, Perry will be on Kentucky’s schedule for 2025-26.
