Jack PIlgrimby:Jack Pilgrim03/04/22

You won’t be able to see Shaedon Sharpe play for the Kentucky Wildcats this season, but you can purchase his first basketball trading card right away.

Topps is featuring Sharpe in its 2022 Bowman NEXT TOPPS NOW® series, an exclusive limited-time-only run featuring the brightest young talents in basketball. The Kentucky freshman is one of three players featured this week — March 3 through March 10 — joining Duke’s Wendell Moore Jr. and North Carolina’s Caleb Love.

The trio of players make up the weekly run, with all sales closing at 1 p.m. ET on March 10. “Once the sales clock is up, the final buzzer sounds for these cards,” writes Topps.

Beyond the basic trading card, which retails for $9.99, each featured player also has autographed cards available with varying levels of rarity. There are $199.99 (clear), $249.99 (blue), $299.99 (purple), $349.99 (red), $399.99 (orange) and $999.99 (gold) cards being made, with the clear limited to 99 cards, blue limited to 49 cards, purple limited to 25 cards, red limited to 10 cards, orange limited to five cards and gold limited to just one card.

The gold, orange, red, blue and clear autographed cards are all sold out, with the purple edition being the lone available autographed card remaining. The basic $9.99 trading card will be printed to order.

Sharpe’s card features the following information on the back, among other details:

  • Consensus five-star recruit who reclassified to train with the Kentucky program this season
  • Will make debut in 2022-23
  • Kentucky’s first top 5 recruit since 2016

TyTy Washington and Kellan Grady have also been featured in the 2022 Bowman NEXT TOPPS NOW® series.

According to Ben Roberts of the Herald-Leader, Washington’s card sold 877 copies last month, the most among featured college players. The likes of Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga), Hunter Dickinson (Michigan), Johnny Davis (Wisconsin), Kofi Cockburn (Illinois) and Ochai Agbaji (Kansas) have also been featured.
