Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shows off new signature shoe on Jimmy Fallon

There has never been a bigger year than the Year of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Every accolade in existence (and probably those not in existence yet) was claimed by the former Kentucky Wildcat, who is now one of the biggest faces and brands of the NBA as a superstar for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He won a world championship, the league MVP, Finals MVP and the scoring title while also being named First Team All-NBA. SGA was also named the cover athlete for NBA 2K26, received the key to the city in his hometown, signed a historic contract extension that pays him more than any basketball player has ever seen and designed his own signature shoe as the face of Converse.

Anything else? Oh, he got to promote that signature shoe on its release date this week on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. No big deal.

SGA joined Fallon to talk about the SHAI 001, which sold out in minutes, and unveil three additional colorways coming soon — all in honor of his loved ones. He also talked about his passion for fashion and how that started as a kid on his way to becoming one of the most dominant athletes in the world. That led to a wardrobe change for Fallon, the former Wildcat styling the talk show host the way he would for his NBA tunnel fit during the season.

The coolest part of the show? He gives away an exclusive pair of his new sneakers to a fan in the audience.

“It’s crazy, it’s an amazing feeling,” SGA told Fallon about his historic year both on and off the floor. “It just goes to show that if you work hard, put your head down and take it one step at a time, you can get anywhere you want to go.”

What will come next for the former Wildcat in the Year of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander? Will he become a movie star? He already transformed into ‘The Gilgeousaurus’ promoting Jurassic World Rebirth back in the spring. There’s not much he hasn’t done, admittedly, but he’ll find a way because that’s what he does.

One thing is for certain: SGA will keep making Kentucky proud.
