Kentucky hosted five wide receivers targets for official visits in June. Following a commitment from Brandon Rehmann (West Virginia) last week, a second prospect came off the board on Tuesday night. St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood wideout Shamar Rigby is headed to the Big Ten.

Shamar Rigby took official visits to Kentucky (June 9-11), Purdue (June 16-18), and had one scheduled for this weekend with USF. Iowa State was also involved in this recruitment. That local trip to see the Bulls will likely be canceled after the 6-foot-4 receiver with a basketball background became the 10th member of first-year head coach Ryan Walters‘ first full recruiting class at Purdue. The Central Florida native will enter an Air Raid scheme run by former Mike Leach quarterback Graham Harrell in West Lafayette.

Kentucky is staying patient at wide receiver

Kentucky hosted five wideouts on official visits, but the Cats have not made a major push for a prospect yet. It appears that the coaching staff is staying patient and vetting available options.

Cameron Monteiro canceled his official visit to UK and quickly committed to Pittsburgh. Brandon Rehmann made an official visit but the coaching staff in Lexington appear to take a step back in that recruitment. Rigby seemed like a potential option, but that ship has now sailed.

A big surprise developed when Hardley Gilmore decided to reclassify to 2024 and made it to Kentucky’s campus for his first official visit. The blue-chip prospect immediately bolts to the top of the UK recruiting board. Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton wideout Dorian Williams just wrapped up an official visit with the Wildcats and could be an option. Kentucky made the top eight for five-star prospect Cam Coleman but still needs to get an official visit scheduled.

Liam Coen‘s offense enters the season with eight scholarship receivers, but only Tayvion Robinson is in his final year of eligibility. The Cats will have seven freshmen/sophomores in the position room. Kentucky can afford to be selective at the position this recruiting cycle, and that is what we’re seeing play out on the trail.
