You can say many things about Shannon the Dude. He’s a rock-jock who doubles as a producer for Kentucky Sports Radio, while also serving as the host of the KSR Pre-Show. On top of all of that, he’s the OVW World Radio Heavyweight Champion. His job has to be difficult because there are so many hats to wear.

His various occupations make it difficult to pin down the popular personality. There is one defining characteristic that shines above all else: confidence.

Shannon the Dude talks the talk. Tonight, we learned if he can in fact walk the walk.

Long before Shannon the Dude was playing cassettes on Fox Rocks, he was Shannon Grigsby, star of the baseball diamond. The Bullitt County native wasn’t setting stolen base records like his other radio co-host, Ryan Lemond, but Shannon made it to the collegiate ranks and played for a pair of small in-state schools, Lindsey Wilson and Bellarmine.

Does this pitch look like it was thrown by a former college baseball player?

His KSR Pre-Show co-host, Billy Rutledge, was awfully forgiving with that description. From that angle, it clearly looks like Shannon the Dude bounced it before the ball made it to the strike zone.

BUT WAIT — THERE’S MORE!

Another angle is a little more forgiving to The Dude.

Fair or foul? You be the judge of Shannon the Dude’s performance at Tuesday night’s Lexington Legends game.

KSR has a History with the Lexington Legends

Long before Shannon the Dude stepped up to the plate, it was Ryan Lemond who was stirring the pot within the KSR family.

Back in 2016, John Calipari hosted a charity softball game at the home of the Legends and was kind enough to invite Kentucky Sports Radio. Matt Jones took the mound and delivered one right to Ryan Lemond’s sweet spot. The former Kentucky Wesleyan superstar looked 30 years younger as the ball soared over the fence.

Unfortunately, the umpires didn’t give Ryan his time to shine. The home run was ruled a foul ball. It’s a ruling still debated to this day on Kentucky Sports Radio. Was it fair or foul?
