Short and Insufficient Profile: Jayce Long

by:Broseph07/26/08
OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that's neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious "that's what she said" in the headline. We'd also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in 'A' or 'B' because these early ones might suck a little. JL Boring, Obligatory Vitals Height--6'0" Weight--180 40--N/A Year--SO (Redshirt) Position--Wide Receiver Hometown--West Paducah, KY (Heath) Unfair comparison to NFL-er: Daryl Johnston.  They both wear (wore) #48. Most interesting fact from his media guide bio:  Voted "Most Talented" at Heath.  Not surprisingly, he was a three-year starter in football, four-year letterman in basketball, three-year letterman in baseball, and finished second in the state his sophomore year in the 4x100 relay, all while carrying a 3.9 GPA. Something we made up about him: He is a finalist in the 'Babies Gone Wild' Contest. Items of legitimate interest: Was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll last season.  Started as a walk-on and saw his first collegiate action last year against Florida Atlantic.  Impressed the coaches with his athleticism and pass-catching ability.  Scout Team Player of the Week once his freshman year. Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions: Right now, fourth in line at the WR spot behind 'Dreamweaver" Lyons, Anthony Mosely, and Terrence Jones.
