Short and Insufficient Profile: J.J. Helton

by:Broseph07/21/08
OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that's neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious "that's what she said" in the headline. We'd also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in 'A' or 'B' because these early ones might suck a little. JJ That is JJ Hardy...and it could be Todd Helton? Boring, Obligatory Vitals Height--6'3" Weight--230 40--N/A Year--SO (Redshirt) Position--Long Snapper Hometown--Franklin, TN (Franklin) Unfair comparison to NFL-er:  Bubba Miller...who I think is no longer in the NFL, but he did play his high school ball in Franklin, TN. Most interesting fact from his media guide bio: His daddy, Joe, was a four-year letterman and defensive MVP for Lenoir-Rhyne College. Something we made up about him: His real name is Joe John (if you've seen Orange County, that's kinda funny) Items of legitimate interest:  Took over long snapping duties for punting the last four games of the year, including the Music City Bowl...former high school QB and long snapper, and also played DE in high school, which helps him on punt coverage (he does have one career tackle). Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions:  Should be our starting long snapper for punting.
