Short and Insufficient Profile: Justin Jeffries

by:Broseph07/23/08
OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that's neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious "that's what she said" in the headline. We'd also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in 'A' or 'B' because these early ones might suck a little. JJ  JJ, yer doin' a helluva job! Boring, Obligatory Vitals Height--6'6" Weight--310  40--5.1 Year--JR Position--Offensive Tackle Hometown--Louisville, KY (St. Xavier) Unfair comparison to NFL-er: This guy isn't an active player, but I am sure he resembles his father, Curtis, who played for the Bengals in 1987 at the position of tight end.  At 6'4", 236, Curtis was tiny compared to his son. Most interesting fact from his media guide bio: His finalists included Michigan, West Virginia, and Louisville. Something we made up about him: I taught him English his junior year at St. X, and he loved grammar.  Actually, only the part about loving grammar is untrue...I really did teach him.  Great kid.  He was actually partial to Beowulf. Items of legitimate interest: All-State his Senior year at St. X while compiling a 28-2 record his junior and senior year.  He was voted on the SEC All-Freshman team in 2006.  Teamed up with the rest of the O-line to give up zero sacks in their upset of #1 LSU last season.  Has played in 25 games already (starting all 13 last season). Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions: Has an NFL Draft Profile Page and he is ranked as the 44th best OL as a junior.  Tons of upside but needs to limit the offsides penalties.  Still, the good vastly outweighs the bad, and he is one of the most experienced parts of what is arguably UK's strongest unit.
