Half a dozen former Wildcats (and one current volunteer coach) will represent the University of Kentucky at the 2023 World Athletics Championships from August 19-27 at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
Six females and one male will compete in the upcoming events as representatives of UK. The first day of competition begins on Saturday, August 19, when Alexis Holmes (class of 2022) will compete in the Mixed 4×400 meter relay at 5:05 a.m. EST. All events will be broadcast on NBC, CNBC, and the USA Network. It will also be available through streaming on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, along with the Peacock app.
Of note, 2022 World Champion and fellow former ‘Cat, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, will not have the chance to repeat this year in the 400m hurdles. The Olympian is dealing with a minor knee injury that will prevent her from competing. Regardless, the World Championships will be filled with members of the blue and white.
Below is the list of former Kentucky athletes that will participate in the 2023 World Championships, along with the country they will suit up for and the event they intend to compete in.
