Some Late Weekend Afternoon Notes

by:Matt Jones08/21/10
Drew Franklin is manning the site today...that means unadulterated goodness. But we still have some notes we must attend to as well, so lets get to them quickly: --- The commitment today of Nick Martin is a HUGE pickup for the UK football recruiting class. Joker Phillips has done a tremendous job of adding speed all the skill positions and making the team much more SEC ready. However he needed help on the lines and the pickup of Martin (along with the possibility of Zach West, who is down to Penn St, Tennessee and Kentucky) is a big part of fixing that need. Martin had narrowed his list to UK and Iowa, but according to Larry Vaught, had offers from Tennessee, Michigan and Notre Dame. He is a great pickup for Joker and showcases just what a great job they have done on the recruiting front. --- No Quarterback has been selected, although Joker Phillips hinted it may be down to two. He also announced that there would be a mid-week scrimmage this week, thus giving all players another chance to showcase their talents. The fans seem to want Newton 2-1...we shall see what Joker thinks soon enough. --- Calipari is tweeting nonstop about the camp where he is coaching some team. I must say that I have no idea who these people are and he sends tweets like these guys are all known to us. I will be glad when this event (whatever it is) is over. --- Dont forget the debut of the radio show on Monday...I plan on having some comments for a media person that UK fans seem are not that fond of (not you John Clay...we like you). 10 am-noon on 1080 WKJK. You can get it in Louisville and Lexington...not streaming yet, but hopefully in the near future. We plan on offering podcasts soon (As in the next week or so) as well. --- If you havent yet done it, please join our KSR Facebook Fan Page. We are going to be using the page to update the radio and tv show stuff, and put pictures from events, including your favorite Fans of the Day. Check it out and "like" it so you can follow it over the next few months as we seek to make it quite impressive. Blogger contest next round comes out early this week (We havent forgotten them)....and we may even sneak in a live blog at some point as this is the last weekend of rest for me until April. Its about to get really fun...
