A showdown between a current Wildcat and potential future Wildcats will take place in Atlanta this weekend at the Overtime Elite facilities.

On Saturday night at the OTE Arena, four-star Kentucky commit Somto Cyril will suit up alongside five-star Kentucky target Karter Knox for Overtime Elite’s Rod Wave Elite (RWE) as they take on the Explorers in a preseason exhibition game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST and will be streamed live on OTE’s YouTube channel and through Amazon Prime.

These exhibitions will help kick off Overtime Elite’s third season, which starts in December.

The Explorers — a Florida-based high school not part of OTE — feature the highly-ranked Boozer twins of Cameron and Cayden. Cameron is a 6-foot-9 power forward considered the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2025 while Cayden is a 6-foot-3 point guard considered the No. 16 overall prospect from the same class. Both hold scholarships from Kentucky and took surprise official visits to Lexington in September.

Cyril, a 6-foot-10 center, is one of two class of 2024 Kentucky commits (the other being five-star point guard Boogie Fland, who committed to UK on Friday) while Knox, a 6-foot-6 wing, is one of the Wildcats’ top remaining targets from 2024. Knox announced earlier this week that he’s down to a top four of Kentucky, Lousiville, South Florida, and the G League Ignite.

You’ll actually be able to watch all four of these talented high schoolers on Friday night, as well. The Boozer twins and Explorers will take on the Cold Hearts (the former OTE team of current Kentucky freshman Rob Dillingham) at 7:00 p.m. EST while Cyril, Knox, and RWE will go up against Hoop Nation at 9:00 p.m. EST. Those games will also be streamed live on the OTE YouTube page and on Amazon Prime.

With Cyril and Fland now in the fold, Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 5 in the country and tops in the Southeastern Conference, according to On3. Knox is one of a handful of ’24 targets left on the Wildcats’ big board, although a final decision could still be a ways away.

Despite his older brother Kevin Knox having played for head coach John Calipari at UK several years ago, other options have reason to stand out for Karter. Louisville head coach Kenny Payne is close with the Knox family and his older brother Kobe Knox currently plays at South Florida. On3’s Jamie Shaw reported on Thursday that the G League is one to watch closely as we head down the final stretch of this recruitment. All options appear to be in play, but Kentucky has long been thought to be the eventual choice.

You can get a glimpse at Knox, future Kentucky center Cyril, and the talented Boozer twins over the next two nights.
