Southeastern Conference Basketball Update
Speaking of Four Non-Blondes, here are a few quick updates on the SEC:
– Of the 17 D-1 basketball conferences, Ken Pomeroy ranks the SEC #4 in SOS. Only the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East rank higher, thus the SEC is a tougher conference than the ACC. Kiss our grits, Duke.
– According to Sports Illustrated and every credible sports site on the inter webs, Kentucky sits alone at the top of the conference standings.
– KenPom.com ranks each conference club’s schedule by average rating of opposing conference teams. Of the 12 SEC clubs, only Vanderbilt (.4944) has a weaker conference schedule than Kentucky (.6206). The toughest conference schedule is Georgia (.9177), who plays both Florida and Kentucky twice. I respectfully disagree with Mr. Pomeroy, because John Calipari’s club has to play Kentucky every day in practice.
Cats League Stats
– Lamb is #12 in PPG (14), #6 in FT% (82.1%) and #4 in 3Pt% (45.7%); Davis is #2 in RPG (10.2), #8 in Steals (1.58 SPG) and leads the league in FG% (64.3%) and in Blocks (4.56); and Teague is #5 in Assists (4.2 APG).
Go Cats.
