Back in his high school days, Andrej Stojakovic was offered a scholarship by Kentucky’s former head coach John Calipari. A couple of years later, the Wildcats are back in consideration, just under a new regime.

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Stojakovic, who entered his name into the transfer portal on March 18 after one season at Stanford, is down to three finalists: California, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Tipton adds that the 6-foot-7 wing is in the process of finalizing a visit to Lexington for this weekend.

As a freshman at Stanford in 2023-24, Stojakovic averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per contest. He shot 40.9 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from deep, and 52.8 percent from the line. The California native will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The son of longtime NBA veteran and three-time All-Star Peja Stojakovic, Andrej quickly heard from Kentucky’s new head coach Mark Pope once entering the portal. Pope was already actively recruiting the younger Stojakovic to BYU when he was coaching the Cougars, and he’s carried that relationship over to UK.

“It’ll definitely be exciting to see what Coach Pope can do for the program,” Stojakovic told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ earlier this month when discussing the possibility of a Kentucky visit. “I don’t know much. I’ve never been to the state of Kentucky, but I’ve heard a bunch of great things about the fanbase.”

Looking at the rest of his final three schools, Stojakovic took a trip to Cal over the weekend but has yet to schedule a visit to North Carolina. He has said previously that there is no timeline for a decision.

If Stojakovic is able to lock in a trip with Kentucky for this weekend, he’ll join Utah transfer Deivon Smith and Saint Mary’s transfer Aidan Mahaney as visitors in Lexington. Utah State transfer Great Osobor will begin his visit to Kentucky on April 29. The next several days are shaping up to be a potentially huge recruiting stretch for Pope and Co.
