The health of the Kentucky football team is in “decent shape” after week one, but the Wildcats did not escape the season-opener against Toledo completely unscathed.

Mi’Quise Humphrey-Grace was one of the most highly-touted additions to the Kentucky football team this offseason. The defensive end/outside linebacker was the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 after tallying 17.0 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.

No. 90 did not carve out a spot in the box score before suffering an ankle injury in the second half against Toledo. He was spotted wearing a boot after the win.

“We’ll see,” Stoops said on Monday. “He’s day to day. We got a lower body, little ankle, but we’ll see.”

Kentucky plays Ole Miss on Saturday, which means we’ll see the first official SEC availability report of the 2025 season on Wednesday. It will be updated nightly, then one final report will be issued an hour before kickoff on Saturday.

It sounds like Jamarion Wilcox will be listed as “out” on that injury report. Kentucky’s leading rusher in 2024 did not dress for the opening game of the season. He was sidelined for a violation of team rules. Stoops said on Saturday that he would reveal more details in the future, but Monday was not far enough into the future.

“I don’t have anything. The status has not changed, so I really cannot comment on that anymore,” said the Kentucky head coach.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Wilcox has a hearing scheduled for Wednesday regarding a domestic and interpersonal violence allegation. It’s unlikely that Wilcox will be available until that is resolved.

In 2024, Wilcox had a team-high 590 rushing yards. However, he fell down the depth chart this offseason. Kentucky brought in a pair of transfers, Dante Dowdell and Seth McGowan, to take a lion’s share of the carries. Neither player participated in the preseason scrimmages, giving Wilcox an opportunity to make a move, but it was Jason Patterson who emerged as RB3. Patterson did not record a carry against Toledo, with Dowdell and McGowan receiving 32 of the 42 rushing attempts.
