Kentucky QB Stone Saunders will enter transfer portal
We are still two-plus weeks away from the official opening of the only transfer portal this college football offseason. Apparently, Monday was QB Day. Numerous players became free agents with DJ Lagway and Brendan Sorsby both making their portal intentions known. Kentucky also lost a scholarship quarterback.
Stone Saunders will be a one-and-done at UK.
Stone Saunders was a three-star recruit who was a standout at Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt. The quarterback led this powerhouse program to multiple national championships and set a Pennsylvania state record for career touchdown passes (204) and career passing yards (13,719). Expectations were high for Saunders after he picked Kentucky over Nebraska. However, fellow class of 2025 signee Brennen Ward appeared to he ahead of Saunders in the spring and that continued throughout the season.
The prolific high school quarterback will enter the transfer portal next month with four seasons of eligibility remaining. Cutter Boley, Brennen Ward, and Matt Ponatoski are currently the only full-time scholarship quarterbacks remaining on Kentucky’s 2026 roster.
