Saturday night’s game vs. Mississippi State is absolutely huge, and at today’s press conference, Mark Stoops said he expects a rowdy crowd at Kroger Field to help the Cats pull off the upset.

“It’s a big opportunity vs. a ranked opponent at home. A lot of reasons why it’s a big game. Part of that is to win at home in a good environment like we’re going to have and that I expect this week.”

Kentucky fans have answered Stoops’ call for big games in recent years, with the Florida game last year and the Georgia game in 2016 coming to mind as examples of Kroger Field at its best. Stoops said he expects nothing less on Saturday.

“I just know to hope and expect to have a great crowd. I’m sure we will. Big Blue Nation has not disappointed us in these big opportunities. The team is excited about being here and being in this environment and working extremely hard this week to give ourselves an opportunity to win.”

As of this afternoon, UK officials say there are more than 44,000 tickets out for Saturday night’s game. You can see on Ticketmaster the areas that still need to be filled:
