Terry Wilson "could barely watch" Last Chance U, thankful for JUCO experience

Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson spent the last year in junior college with the Garden City Broncbusters, where he threw for 2,113 yards (58-percent), 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also added 518 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in 11 games. One of those games was highlighted in the latest season of Last Chance U, a Netflix documentary series highlighting the adversities JUCO athletes face each year. After spending two years in East Mississippi, the show moved to Independence, KS to follow the Independence CC Pirates, a team in the Broncbusters' conference. In their week-three matchup, Wilson's Garden City team lost in heartbreaking fashion 27-23, where the offense came up just short on a game-winning drive opportunity. He finished the game with 194 yards and a touchdown through the air, to go with 37 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but the loss likely ended the team's bid for back-to-back national championship appearances. It was so difficult for Wilson that he could barely stand to watch the documentary. "Yeah, I did. I could barely watch it," he said. Wilson added that Last Chance U was the perfect portrayal of what junior college is actually like. It's a difficult and unenjoyable experience, but you'll come out of it better than you were before. "JUCO, it is what it is. It sucks," he said. "You're in the middle of nowhere, don't have that much food. It makes you or breaks you. I'm just thankful to go through that because now that I got here, everything is so much easier. I'm so thankful and grateful for everything I've gotten. Coming from JUCO, I feel like that's made me who I am." Now a Kentucky Wildcat, Wilson said the practices are actually easier than his time at Garden City. "I say SEC practice is way easier, and JUCO practice is super tough," he said. "I hated it. But I'm here now, so that's all I can say."
