A Thank You to the Mothers of the Big Blue Nation

Happy Mother’s Day, Big Blue Nation! If you’re in the central Kentucky area, you’ve been treated to an absolutely gorgeous afternoon — the cherry on top of a day dedicated to celebrating the women we love the most.

In honor of all the moms out there (sure, we’ll include the Louisville fans, too), a handful of KSR’s talented interns jotted down some special words about their own. And from everyone else at KSR, a Happy Mother’s Day to all.

Piper McCoun

To have just one single day of the year where we celebrate all of the mothers around the world could never encapsulate all that they are and what they do for us.

I got really lucky with mine. It is she who instills invaluable knowledge in me and immense love and care. She has been my supporter and biggest fan for the past 21 years.

She always tells me, you never understand how much you will love your children until you have children of your own. Her love has been felt all throughout my life, and words could never do justice to express what she’s done for me and how she’s shaped me into the person I am today.

I got so dang lucky with her, and I cannot wait to continue to learn from and about her.

My heart goes out to those whose mothers have passed, whose mothers are estranged, and everything in between. Know that you are deeply loved and wanted by those around you.

Days like these remind me to cherish my mother for all that she is and all that she’s done. To all the mothers out there, thank you. I love you, Mom!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day has always been an interesting holiday for me. Why? Because I absolutely suck at gift-giving.

I’d like to think that my presence is good enough, but I always feel bad that I can’t return my mother the favor she has given me for the past 20 years.

That favor, so to speak, is her never-ending love and affection for not just me, but my dad and my three brothers as well. I’m sure being the only woman in a house of knuckleheads is draining, but despite that, my mom has always gone the full length to take care of us.

Whether it’s taking all of us kids to practices and ball games, buying us food whenever we ask, or getting us the best Christmas gifts ever, mom’s always been there.

I’m sure just about everyone would say they “have the best mom ever”, and I’ll even admit my mom isn’t perfect. Still, I will say that I would never, ever trade her for anyone else.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I’ve had the pleasure of spending 21 years full of laughs, love, and life with my mom, Ann – a wonderful teacher, friend, wife, and mother to three kids: my two brothers and me. While I can’t talk to my mom about Kentucky Basketball recruits or Cincinnati Bengals pickups, there are so many other things I can tell my mom about that are worth 100 times more than the newest point guard for the ‘Cats.

My mom has been my best friend for years. Despite living two hours away from her and my dad, my mom never fails to be there for me when I need her. (Even if it’s about something as silly as boy problems…)

My mom has been through a lot. Both of her parents passed away in the span of about five years, and in that time, she also fought a tough battle with breast cancer. My mom is the absolute strongest person I know. She’s gone through so much, yet her faith never wavers. She’s beautiful, has the kindest heart, and will forever make me laugh until I cry. So not only do I love my mom, but I want to be just like her. She’s selfless and thoughtful and is always making sacrifices for me and my brothers.

To say I love my mom is an understatement. She’s the best person I know, even if I have a funny way of showing it sometimes. Happy Mother’s Day, mom. You deserve the best day, every day. I love you!
