Ever since I heard about Jack Demsey’s a couple of years ago, it has been a place I wanted to visit for a UK game. I had the opportunity to do so for the Ohio State game this past weekend and it was wild.

First of all, the location is perfect. It sits in Midtown Manhattan, under the shadow of the Empire State Building, and a couple of blocks from Times Square. The tavern itself was recently expanded to four floors, and BBN occupied all of them this weekend.

The weekend got started a little early. On Thursday there was a “Blue York” happy hour that started at five for those already in the city. It featured UK themed menus and drink specials.

On Friday, with more fans arriving in the city, things really took off. The band 2/3 Goat played for a couple of hours in the evening and KSR’s own Drew Franklin was guest bartending.

On game day, things got started around 10am with Cameron Mills Radio Show. Demsey’s was pretty busy until a lot of fans started heading toward Brooklyn and the Barclays Center.

Even though the game was in Brooklyn, there was still a good crew watching the game at Demsey’s. The third floor was basically full of frustrated UK fans yelling at the TV’s throughout the room. We got our hopes up together after each Murray three-pointer and had them crushed again each time Ohio State went back down the court and scored.

Although the after party wasn't as big as it would have been with a Cats win, it was still a good time. Cameron Mills was back signing posters, the NYC Alumni Club was raffling off basketballs signed by various UK players, and even Aaron Torres was there signing copies of his book
One and Fun (which I’ve almost finished two days later).
Yeah, we didn't get the win. But Cats fans were out in full force, just as passionate as always.
