Meet William C. Rhoden
I promise this will (most likely) be the last post about Cornell. And
if we're going to end the Big Red talk, this piece by NY Times writer William Rhoden is a great one on which to end.
Rhoden remarks that the paths taken by Wildcat and Big Red players in the post-collegiate careers will be vastly different, but one is no better than the other. Rhoden hits the nail on the head with this:
We have a tendency to turn major events into more than they are, especially when apparent contrasts of gender, race and class are involved. The Cornell story became part morality play, part referendum: an Ivy league team of “real students” and “smart guys” versus a Kentucky team, supposedly of street players who tumbled onto campus and leased themselves to the university with no thought about being students...Let's get back to basketball
