The Final Word On Cornell

by:Patrick Barker03/27/10
6099 Meet William C. Rhoden I promise this will (most likely) be the last post about Cornell.  And if we're going to end the Big Red talk, this piece by NY Times writer William Rhoden is a great one on which to endRhoden remarks that the paths taken by Wildcat and Big Red players in the post-collegiate careers will be vastly different, but one is no better than the other.  Rhoden hits the nail on the head with this:
We have a tendency to turn major events into more than they are, especially when apparent contrasts of gender, race and class are involved. The Cornell story became part morality play, part referendum: an Ivy league team of “real students” and “smart guys” versus a Kentucky team, supposedly of street players who tumbled onto campus and leased themselves to the university with no thought about being students...Let's get back to basketball
So hopefully we can all agree this was the definitive word on the subject and it can now be put behind us. Go Cats!
