The Kentucky-Louisville spread is trending in the wrong direction

Fanduel dropped an extra early line on Friday for Kentucky’s regular-season finale against Louisville and unsurprisingly, the Cards were the odds-on favorite. Kentucky opened as a 5.5-point underdog to Louisville next Saturday when the ‘Cats head to the old Papa John’s stadium to cap off what has been a frustrating second half of the season. Just two days later, however, other books have opened at -6.5 and Fanduel has followed suit.
Early bettors were all over the Cards and thus the line has jumped up accordingly. Money is still coming in on Louisville’s side and the line will likely push to -7 or more before kickoff.
Aided by a laughably easy schedule, the Cardinals are 10-1 and heading to the ACC Championship game regardless of the outcome against their in-state rival. Against the spread, the Cards are 6-4-1 on the year.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, are 6-5 overall and 5-6 against the spread, however, they are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games, putting a point on how much this squad had underperformed compared to expectations as of late.

The total for the Governor’s Cup has been set at 50.5. When it comes to point totals Louisville is 5-5-1 on the season, while Kentucky is 7-4.
A win on Saturday would provide a tremendous boost to the morale of the Kentucky football fanbase, which has been reeling since the ‘Cats have regressed in disappointing fashion during the back half of the season.
Let’s hope Kentucky picks themselves off the turf and proves Vegas wrong.
