The MNF Ball Boy's Tuesday Morning Wakeup

There was a sick one-handed grab in last night's Monday Night Football game and it didn't come from Odell Beckham Jr., who continued his disappointing start to the season with only 23 yards receiving in the Giants' loss to the Vikings. The catch didn't come from ODB's teammate, Victor Cruz, either; nor did it come from anyone in purple. The Play of the Game catch was hauled in by the ball boy. Someone get this man a contract.

There was a ton of news yesterday as both Mark Stoops and John Calipari did lots of talking. Let's review some of what was said along with the other news from around UK Land. Last year's loss to Vanderbilt still bothers Coach Stoops. When asked about the most heartbreaking defeat of the 2015 season during Monday's press conference, Stoops admitted, “Does last year’s Vanderbilt game hurt? Absolutely. It bothers me and it will probably bother me for the rest of my life.” Kentucky failed to score a touchdown from the goal line on two separate possessions in that four-point loss, while giving up a long TD on a trick play to end the first half. The loss ultimately cost Kentucky a bowl game. The injury report is a positive one. Stoops shared plenty of good news on the injury front. First and foremost, Dorian Baker is expected back to 100 percent this week at wide receiver, as well as Cole Mosier, who missed the last three games at starting left tackle after injuring his ankle at Florida. The Cats' injured defensive backs, Derrick Baity and Marcus Walker, also practiced on Monday. Stoops said he was surprised to see Baity and that he had been worried about his status. John Calipari talked basketball at the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club's UK Basketball Tipoff Luncheon. Our own Matt Jones and Ryan Lemond conducted an interview with Calipari at the tipoff luncheon and Cal was loose and hilarious, maybe more so than ever. He spoke very highly of his new team and all of its pieces, and told the crowd, “Every morning, when I get in my car, the first thought, every year from 2010 to this year, my team can win the national title. Every year.” He also talked about his NBA guys -- "How about we have five players on the Phoenix Suns? Most schools don’t have five guys in the league." -- and then threw out an idea for the NCAA, which we will revisit a little later this morning. He parlayed his trip to Louisville into a recruiting trip with a stop across the bridge in New Albany to see Romeo Langford, the No. 2 overall player in the Class of 2018. Then he made his way to Maryland to pay a visit to Immanuel Quickley, the third-ranked point guard in Langford's class. Quickley, who will soon visit Big Blue Madness, tweeted out that he received a scholarship offer during the visit. Single-game tickets for UK's first four home games go on sale tonight.
