The Tebow speech continues to be responsible for all success in Gainesville

by:Thomas Beisner01/26/09
Ahh, January 26th. We're right in the swing of the conference basketball schedule, the Cats are starting to click, big news on the horizon (haven't you heard!?!?!) and the Super Bowl is just days away. It's a good time of the year and for once, you can let your guard down and relax. This is a sports period that's Tebow-free. (cue this sound) Wait, what the hell? I thought it was safe out here again. Isn't Tebow season over? You've got to be kidding me. Listen, man, my life just got enriched and improved for an entire football season of Tebow-mania and I don't need you weasling him into my sacred basketball season. But, alas, somehow you've found a way to do it, Billy Donovan and Jeremy Fowler. The Orlando Sentinel's Fowler points out that Donovan is using what he learned from how the Gator football team rallied around Tim Tebow and a loss to Ole Miss in an effort to spark his team after their last-second loss to South Carolina. I haven't decided yet if Fowler is anointing Chandler Parsons' 27-points against Vandy as the roundball version of Tebow's speech, but I'm leaning in that direction. Sorry, all of this Tebowing is making my head hurt.  Oh well. *I feel like this post sucks....but maybe since it's about Tebow, it will make me a better writer.
