With The Ville's loss on Sunday, La Familia locks up home court for remainder of TBT

There will be no rematch between former ‘Cats and Cards this summer — the Louisville alums couldn’t take care of business.
Despite hosting the Louisville Regional as the top seed, The Ville was upset in the second round of The Basketball Tournament on Sunday night, falling to 4-seed Sideline Cancer, 73-63. The Ville nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback after trailing by as many as 25 points in the second quarter, making it just a seven-point contest going into the Elam Ending.
But there would be no miracle in Freedom Hall — Sideline Cancer won on a banked-in three by Jermaine Marrow to reach the target score of 73 points and advance to Tuesday’s Sweet 16.
What does this all mean for La Familia? Well, The Ville sold the most tickets out of any region in TBT, guaranteeing home court advantage throughout the event as long as they’re alive. Now that they’re eliminated, that title goes to the region with the next-highest tickets sold: La Familia’s Lexington Regional.

As long as the Kentucky alums remain in the tournament, the rest of their games will be played at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.
La Familia is coming off a thrilling matchup of its own on Sunday, taking down War Ready (Auburn alumni) in a game that came down to the wire. With the game tied at 76-76 and the target score set at 79 points, Archie Goodwin scored back-to-back buckets for La Familia to stave off elimination. With the win, they advance to Tuesday’s Sweet 16 matchup against Eberlein Drive, which is Goodwin’s former TBT team.
After a record-breaking, high-energy, spit-inducing matchup in the TBT quarterfinals last summer inside Freedom Hall, the stage was set once again for another showdown in the quarterfinals. That game would have returned to Louisville as well, but now La Familia will have the Big Blue Nation behind its back the rest of the way. La Familia is four wins away from taking home the $1 million, winner-takes-all grand prize.
