Someone dressed as Batman is patrolling UK's library and campus to keep the peace (and quiet)
If you see a guy walking around the University of Kentucky wearing a Batman suit, it’s not a Halloween costume; he’s been there all semester, patrolling the library and campus to keep the peace — and quiet.
“UKY Batman,” as he calls himself on social media, has become a fixture on UK’s campus over the last month, walking around the William T. Young Library and escorting people home from parties. His bio on Instagram and TikTok is “Library Police, Case Solver, Batman,” and he introduced himself to the community on September 20 with this message, along with his phone number.
“Hello, citizens of the University of Kentucky. I am here to bring hope to this campus from the shadows. I genuinely want to make a difference on this beautiful (besides construction) campus.
“While I truly want to help, I will not always be available, and there is only one of me. But believe me when I say I will try my best to fulfill the hearts of the student body.

UKY Batman has become a celebrity, with students posting pictures and videos of him on their social media accounts. He even got a picture with the UK Police Department last week, proof he has their blessing. The Kentucky Kernel, UK’s student newspaper, caught up with him for a late-night interview, in which he said his goal is to keep the library, aka his “bat cave,” safe and quiet for people to study. He’s gotten so popular that there’s now a UK Riddler and UK Joker, the former of which he says shares his desire to bring joy to campus.
It wasn’t too long ago that a foot stabber was wandering around William T. Young Library, so a benevolent Batman is a major upgrade. Can he bring his peaceful energy to Kroger Field if things get back the next two Saturdays?
