Three More Kentucky Players Join University Sponsored NBA2K Tournament

A team consisting of Kentucky basketball's top video gamers would probably make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. In addition to Immanuel Quickley and Zan Payne from the current men's team, along with current New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox, three more Wildcats have been added to the University of Kentucky's first-ever school-wide NBA2K Tournament. Women's basketball players, Chasity Patterson and Dre'Una Edwards, along with men's player Dontaie Allen will make up the six Kentucky hoopers among the 64-player tournament field. Patterson, currently a junior, will matchup up against Allen, a freshman, in the first round. The student-athletes were announced as participants during a selection show that took place on Tuesday afternoon. Patterson, Edwards, Quickley, Payne, and Allen will all fit into the "current students" portion of the bracket while Knox is tabbed in the "alumni" region. The other two regions are labeled "future students" and "Big Blue Nation"; I would assume the latter region is made up of Kentucky fans. “I think that it’s another chance to show that I’m not just a basketball player,” Quickley said, according to Josh Moore at the Herald-Leader. “(It) will be cool to show some video game skills and I also feel I’m pretty good. Lastly, I’m looking to get this championship since we didn’t get a chance to win it on the hardwood.” With the selection show for the tournament held earlier on Tuesday, the event is ready to get going this coming Friday over on UK's Twitch channel. The tourney is set to run until Tuesday, April 14, with the semifinals and championship game held that day. Here is a list of the current schedule:

• Selection Show: Tuesday, 4/7 at 5 pm ET
• Round of 64: Friday, 4/10 at 5 pm ET
• Round of 32: Saturday, 4/11 at 5 pm ET
• Round of 16 & Round of 8: Monday, 4/13 at 5 pm ET
• Round of 4 & Championship: Tuesday, 4/14 at 5 pm ET

This group of Wildcats isn't the only one putting their video game talents on display. Former Kentucky guard and current Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker is in the second round of the 2K sponsored NBA2K Tournament showcased on ESPN.
