Thursday's KSR show had Deone Walker amid utter chaos

Deone Walker was a special guest on Kentucky Sports Radio today, right as all hell broke loose on the show. I was one, maybe two questions into the interview with Walker when my end of the broadcast malfunctioned, leaving Kentucky’s star defensive lineman on the air with producer Shannon The Dude, who tossed the show to a break. Walker graciously stayed through the advertisements until I returned to the show by phone, making for an awkward interview as chaos ensued around the conversation.

Still, despite technical difficulties, KSR was thrilled to have Walker on the program. We had fun discussing how he feels heading into his third season opener in Lexington, if he will sleep Friday night, why he considered trying out for the basketball team, the offensive linemen that give him problems, and much more.

Listen to the Q&A with Walker and the madness around it in Hour 2 of today’s podcast:

Chaos

Now, let’s talk about those technical difficulties. Of all the times for the Comrex system to burn out, it happened a minute into an interview with the star of Kentucky Football. Deone Walker was kind enough to do an interview with KSR on a busy Thursday morning, and it was then that the wheels fell off of the show. Unbelievable timing, yet very believable timing, if you’re a long-time listener. I ended up hosting by phone while standing in the Sonic parking lot.

Adding to the 30 minutes of KSR that I’d love to forget, I said Mark Poop instead of Mark Pope, so I’ve got that going for me. I guess we all have one of those days at work. Today was mine.

Thank you, Adam Luckett

When things were going well on Thursday’s show, Adam Luckett provided a ton of football insight while taking questions from the listening audience. Luckett stepped up as co-host with Matt Jones and Ryan Lemond away, and it allowed the show to deep dive into football talk two days before the season opener.

Listen to the show from the beginning below. I’ll be back tomorrow morning, I think.
