Today on KSR: It's Friday and let's hope Pitino tweets again

by:TJ Walker09/21/18
We did it! We made it through another long work week and this time the accomplishment seems even greater since we've been anticipating this Mississippi State game for weeks. Coaches and players shouldn't look ahead, but fans and media can do whatever they want. No disrespect to Murray State, but we've been looking forward to tomorrow's atmosphere for awhile. Also, you know the old saying, "Another day, another chance for Rick Pitino to tweet". So, that's something we potentially have to look forward to today.

Because he was roasted after tweet No. 1:

https://twitter.com/RealPitino/status/1042845998261985281 First, Pitino had his last named misspelled in his banner and claimed his 2013 NCAA Title as one of two championships. He added was the only coach to take three different schools to the Final Four. You can't have it both ways, Rick. If you're going to vacate John Calipari's Final Fours then you would have to vacate the 2013 championship. He was also off with his Twitter picture. The dated photo of Pitino was off-center. Hey, but after a few small changes Pitino fixed his mistakes and stated he was one of two coaches to take three different schools to the Final Four. Pitino supposedly won't be checking his tweets and will have zero access to his Twitter besides sending an "administrator" his thoughts and they will construct the tweets. Basically, Pitino is saying he won't see your clever comments. It's funny that he made that clear after receiving thousands of negative messages.

It's the Bake by the Lake:

It's the Baker Mayfield show in Cleveland. If you missed it last night. Browns' QB Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion and the Browns put in No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield under center. He led the Browns to their first win since 2016. My wife is Browns fan, so I have no problem rooting for them because they are of no threat to the Packers (and for the last couple decades no threat to any NFL team), so I'm happy for the true Browns fans. The future looks bright under Baker and you all deserve that. https://twitter.com/KY_Clips/status/1042961010125164544

Will we learn the truth about these jerseys today?:

That's two straight days Benny Snell has posted jersey designs on his Instagram. On Wednesday it was just the helmet  and yesterday it was the complete jersey with the potentially new helmet. I love the helmet. I need the helmet. Sadly, I don't think we're going to actually see that helmet on Saturday but I so badly want to be wrong. I'd also be pretty surprised to see UK wear black tops. It's a white/blue stripe out, I'm guessing we see blue-on -blue with white helmets. What's your guess for jerseys on Saturday?

Tiger is the co-leader heading into round two of the 2018 Tour Championship:

2 p.m. is when you can watch the Big Cat today. Tiger had a slow start on Thursday but really turned it up during the back nine. He closed out his round with a beautiful eagle putt on 18 that moved him to -5, which tied Rickie Fowler's for the best round of the day. There is still a scenario where Tiger could win the FedEx Cup. It's a longshot, but hey, it starts with him winning the 2018 Tour Championship. https://twitter.com/PGATOUR/status/1042941607744438278 [caption id="attachment_246611" align="alignnone" width="2048"] UK Athletics[/caption]

UK men's soccer host its first conference opponent:

Did you know that UK soccer is undefeated? It gave up its first goal earlier this week but was able to defeat Lipscomb on the road. The Cats are No. 7 in the country and have been one of the biggest surprises of the season. The Cats will host C-USA opponent Charlotte tonight at 7:30 p.m. at The Bell. Charlotte tied Louisville on the road earlier this week and will be a tough opponent for Kentucky. Also, free admission for some heroes.

Paintsville gobbled up UK vs. MSU tickets:

UK Athletics and UK Ticketing headed to the eastern part of the state on Thursday to distribute $10 tickets for Saturday's Kentucky vs. Mississippi State game. Everyone was a little surprised by how few of tickets were sold earlier in the week, so UK Athletics has made a drastic push to try and get more butts in the seats. A sellout seems unlikely for Saturday, but I don't think you'll see huge clumps of empty seats. The corners may not be shoulder-to-should, but I'm still anticipating a wild crowd. If you're on the fence about going, I say do it. Tickets are still available. https://twitter.com/KashDaniel15/status/1042907663019851778

Speaking of MSU, learn about the Bulldogs:

KSR's Adam Luckett has the complete breakdown of what Mississippi State is going to try on Saturday. The Bulldogs are one of the most talented teams in the SEC and there's a reason they are 10-point favorites, but if the Cats can make tackles in space and Terry Wilson can connect on a few deep balls Kentucky can pull off a win. Read the scouting report (for free) right here.

Go see KSR Live:

The gang will be at Mr. Brews Taphouse and you should go check them out. It's the last show before the big Mississippi State vs. Kentucky game on Saturday. You know the KSR crew will be pumped up and Ryan Lemond may even take his shirt off! [mobile_ad]
