We are one day away from the Game of Thrones season finale and seven days away from Kentucky's first game of the 2017 season.  What a time to be alive.  Playing the waiting game can be difficult.  Fight through adversity by reading Kentucky Sports Radio.

The Alumni Game was a Hit

Former Wildcats helped raised more than $1 million for charity.  I wasn't there, but you can find plenty from Tyler and Jack if you keep scrolling, or you can check out our fantastic photo gallery from Dr. Mike.

No Football Practice

The Kentucky football team is spending their Saturday at work, but they will not speak to the media today.  Mark Stoops will have his first weekly press conference and radio show on Monday.  Until then, I'll share a few leftovers from the freshmen at media day and some position previews.

Ware Wants Sacks

All-SEC pass rusher Denzil Ware is prepared for a big season at UK.  He does not have a specific number of sacks he wants to reach, he just wants to beat his Blitz Brother, Josh Allen. "I want to finish with more sacks than Josh Allen.  Whatever his number is, I want to double that." If he doubles the number of sacks Allen has Kentucky will accumulate approximately 63 sacks.

There's College Football on TV

Even though most of the college football world doesn't start the season until next week, ten teams on the west coast are starting a week early to receive the national spotlight.  Normally I wouldn't watch a matchup between Oregon State and Colorado State, but I'll take whatever I can get today.

High School Football Results

After a relatively uneventful first weekend of high school football, last night featured a ton of close games around the state and the conclusion of Bowling Green's almost three-year long win streak.
  • DeSales 28, Butler 27
  • Wayne County 29, Pulaski County 27
  • Ryle 34, Henry Clay 28 (OT)
  • Fleming County 18, Mason County 14
  • Fern Creek 14, Manual 10
  • Central 13, Western 12
  • PRP 35, Bowling Green 21
  • Scott County 31, Lafayette 21
  • Thomas Nelson 37, Nelson County 13
  • Hazard 17, Harlan County 7
  • Frederick Douglass 49, Tates Creek 22
  • Highlands 27, Campbell County 20 (OT)

The fight that everyone has talked about for far too long is finally here.  I don't know much about boxing, but I know that Mayweather will probably win and everyone who paid for it will be disappointed.  Mayweather fights are never that fun to watch for the casual fan.  I hope tonight is the exception (and that McGregor knocks his ass out), but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Triple Crown Winners in the Travers

The last big horse race of the summer features this year's best three year olds.  For the first time since 1984, three winners from the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont will be in Saratoga's Grade I Stakes race.  The best part?  You can win more money betting this than you can the fight.
  1. Cloud Computing, Castellano, Brown, 8-1
  2. Guiseppe the Great, Gaffalione, Zito, 20-1
  3. West Coast, Smith, Baffert, 4-1
  4. Tapwrit, Ortiz, Pletcher, 7-2
  5. Good Samaritan, Rosario, Mott, 5-1
  6. Girvin, Albarado, Sharp, 10-1
  7. Always Dreaming, Velasquez, Pletcher, 6-1
  8. Lookin At Lee, Santana, Asmussen, 30-1
  9. McCraken, Hernandez, Wilkes, 12-1
  10. Irap, Guiterrez, D. O'Neill, 8-1
  11. Gunnevera, Zayas, Sano, 20-1
  12. Fayeq, Saez, McLaughlin, 30-1

Hurt or Injured?

Injuries are unfortunate at any time.  They're even worse just seven days before the start of the season.  Last night, a flaming log grazed he fingers of my left hand.  Instead of having ten able fingers to type posts, I'm down to seven. A football player might take a week off to heal their injury.  Not this guy.  Don't mark me as questionable or doubtful.  When the lights turn on, I'm prepared to play post.  You could burn all of my fingers and I'd still write about Kentucky football.  You can't stop this train from running (but you can slow it down with a burning log).

Kentucky Football Midseason Report Card

It's the bye week, the unofficial midway point of the 2021 Kentucky football season and grades are due. Mark Stoops' Wildcats are 6-1. Like all good students, they can expect a trip to get ice cream after receiving their midseason report card....
