Kentucky had some work to do this offseason in the transfer portal with Georgia Amoore heading off to the Washington Mystics. Five-star point guard commit Maddyn Greenway won’t be in Lexington until the 2026-27 season, so Kenny Brooks and the staff had to find someone to bridge that gap.

That’s how Kentucky ended up with Tonie Morgan, one of the top point guards available in the portal.

Morgan, who spent three years at Georgia Tech, was a two-time All-ACC selection. Last season, the 5-foot-9 star put up 13.7 points, 5.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Of course, Morgan has played in some big games during her collegiate career, but she hasn’t played in front of a fanbase quite like Big Blue Nation. The Blue-White Game was her first time playing in front of Kentucky fans, and it was a special moment for her.

She was really taken aback by her experience on Friday night.

“It was definitely surreal,” Morgan said of her first time playing at Historic Memorial Coliseum following the Blue-White Game. “[Big Blue Nation] comes in deep.”

Morgan put on quite the show as well. Her shiftiness was on full display when the team scrimmaged against the male practice players. We’ve heard and seen on tape that she can get downhill and score with ease, but seeing her do it in-person was a surreal experience in and of itself.

It’ll be really fun to watch Morgan dice up opposing defenses, starting on November 3rd against Morehead State.
