TopGolf is set to open in Louisville before the holidays.

After long years of planning, legal challenges and construction, TopGolf representatives told WLKY this week that the entertainment complex is expected to open before Thanksgiving.

The company is not ready to announce an official opening date, but it will take place sometime in the next seven weeks.

“There are so many variables in construction, hiring and training,” TopGolf’s Hollie Patierno told WLKY. “We just want to make sure we do everything we possibly can so that when we promise you a date, that is the date, and there is no other way around it.”

TopGolf plans to fill over 500 positions before opening its doors in the coming weeks, ranging from managers, administrators, cooks, bussers, bartenders and servers. Roughly 30 workers have been hired thus far.

Originally proposed in 2018, the famous Dallas-based golf entertainment chain will open at Oxmoor Center, giving Kentucky its first TopGolf location. The three-story, 65,000-square-foot complex is near completion, with the $18.6 million venue set to feature an outdoor driving range with over 100 climate-controlled hitting bays, a bar and dining area, among other amenities.

The Louisville location is set to feature a first-of-its-kind system that electronically tracks the trajectory of the golf balls live in the air as they trek toward their targets. No other TopGolf location has this feature.

Residents of Hurstbourne originally fought to keep TopGolf away from the Oxmoor Center due to noise and light complaints, but land-use approvals were issued to close out 2018. Several lawsuits regarding zoning changes were also filed, but later dismissed.

Now, TopGolf in Louisville is not just around the corner, it’s here.
