The stage is set. A top-five matchup featuring the best of central and western Kentucky will meet in the championship game later today.

No. 3 Lyon County (11-1) and No. 2 Lexington Catholic (12-0) are set to battle for the White, Greer & Maggard Holiday Classic title this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. EST at Lexington Catholic High School. Lyon County’s Travis Perry, a class of 2024 Kentucky commit, headlines the high-profile, midseason showdown.

Through three games in three straight days during this event, Perry has averaged 26 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 3.3 steals in 30 minutes per outing. The 6-foot-2 point guard has shot 45.2 percent from the floor, 37.9 percent from long range, and a perfect 11-11 from the free-throw line. His future college head coach, John Calipari, was in attendance for a game earlier in the week — don’t be shocked if he makes another appearance for this one.

Lexington Catholic is certainly no pushover either. The Knights are No. 2 in the state and undefeated for a very good reason. Lexington Catholic has demolished Taylor County (81-46), No. 17 Washington County (93-67), and No. 15 Woodford County (70-44) in three straight days to reach the championship. 6-foot-4 Bellarmine commit Tyler Doyle is averaging 21.3 points per game in the tournament. Lexington Catholic is an incredibly sound passing team with shooters spread all over the roster. They might even be considered the favorite.

Perry has plenty of help alongside him though. Seniors Jack Reddick and Brady Shoulders are the perfect complementary pieces to Perry. Reddick is a playmaking guard with impressive vision while Shoulders is the man in the paint who controls the glass and finishes around the rim. Perry is still being routinely double-teamed, but Reddick and Shoulders help ease some of the pressure.
